Journalist joins ROC USA to expand storytelling breadth

CONCORD, N.H. — Veteran writer April Myers has been hired as the communications associate at ROC USA®. Myers is a longtime full-time and freelance journalist for magazines and newspapers across the country, including National Geographic Kids, The Washington Post and Engineering News-Record.

Myers worked as a contractor for ROC USA from August 2020 until her recent hire full-time. She designed marketing websites for ROCs across the country. With her additional background in training, teaching, and nonprofit management, she makes for a strong addition to ROC USA, said Mike Bullard, Vice President, Communications.

“One look at her portfolio tells you that April is an accomplished storyteller who is passionate about fairness and equality – she’s a great match for ROC USA’s mission and work,” Bullard said. “We have been looking to add content generation capacity for a while, and I’m excited to have April join and focus on sharing the amazing work being done in ROCs across the country.”

Myers’ current responsibilities include content generation, building and managing marketing websites for ROCS, and assisting in media outreach for ROC USA. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Delaware. April will be working remotely from Baton Rouge, La., and said she’s thrilled to work full-time for ROC USA.

“I love the work that ROC USA does, and I am so happy to work alongside Mike to generate and curate stories to help spread the word about ROC USA’s mission,” Myers said. “I feel lucky to work with an incredibly diverse and talented group of people who are collectively working hard to make affordable housing an option for everyone.”
