Vermont ROC uses Better Together Grant for lifesaving equipment

Sterling View Cooperative Community, Inc., in Hyde Park, Vt., is a 55 and older community with 113 homes. Residents purchased their neighborhood in April 2021. The Co-op’s community center is a place where many residents meet and gather for social events like coffee klatch, exercise classes and square dancing. It’s a place where they also gather to pick up mail, newsletters and calendars as well as check the bulletin board. Sterling View was awarded $1,700 to purchase a defibrillator for the community center, mount it on the wall and train Members who usually attend social gatherings on how to use it.

The Better Together Grants are funded by ROC USA and awarded by the ROC Association Directors each year. Grants of up to $2,000 are typically available. Any ROC with a current or past Technical Assistance Contract with a ROC USA Certified TA Provider is eligible to apply. Awardees of the previous year’s Grants are not eligible to apply. The Better Together Grants program opens once per year. This year, the application period opens April 5, with applications due May 5. For more information, visit https://rocusa.org/grants/.
